As electrical contractors in Liverpool, we see a whole range of electrical issues from the minor to the major. However, when it’s happening specifically to you, we understand that even the most insignificant of inconveniences is still an inconvenience!
One such ‘inconvenience’ that we’re sure we all experience at one time or another is a flickering light bulb; or worse, several. Now, the immediate thought process here is to accuse the wiring of being at fault, and this isn’t always the case. When your lights are flickering, there are certain considerations you can take into mind to be able to quantify just how big, or small, of a problem you have on your hands.
One Light Flickering
Don’t panic! The issue here is likely to be specific to that one bulb. Taking all of the safety precautions we’ve previously discussed – i.e. turning the light off – make sure that your bulb is completely screwed in. If it continues to flicker then it may be that your bulb’s time is coming to an end. The solution here? Grab yourself a new one!
If you find that it is still flickering, then it may be an issue with your light switch. While it may sound basic, try switching it on and off a few times to see if the flickering subsides; if it doesn’t then you may need to call in the big boys… well, our team. We can help troubleshoot it from here.
All Lights Flickering
In this scenario you are looking at a bit more of a serious issue than the changing of a bulb. If it’s a new thing, then it may actually be down to poor or stormy weather. Alternatively, if this is something that you are experiencing on a more regular basis, then it could be that your house’s voltage is fluctuating, in which case you should give us a bell. This is not something you should really tackle on your own.
The key to remember with all things electrical is that if you aren’t confident in what the issue is, or are lacking the know-how or ability, call a professional! Our team are always available to help rectify any electrical issues you are experiencing; all you have to do is get in touch.
